Seven people sent to hospital, some with serious but non-life-threatening injuries

Charlottetown Police Services said the collision happened on Riverside Drive, near the Pioneer Avenue exit. - FileCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — One person is dead after a fiery head-on collision in Charlottetown on Sunday, April 16.

Charlottetown Police Services said the collision happened around 9 p.m. when a vehicle travelling south on Riverside Drive, near the Pioneer Avenue exit, crossed the center line and struck a northbound mini-van head-on. Police said that a southbound vehicle involved in the crash caught fire. Witnesses tried to rescue the driver from the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

Two adults and five children in the mini-van were taken to hospital.
