Margaret Hunter,to plead guilty to conspiring with him to “knowingly and willingly” abuse campaign funds to finance their lavish lifestyle, and pledged to cooperate in the case against her husband. Duncan himself maintains that he is not guilty of any of the five-dozen charges on which he was indicted last August, which include allegations that the coupleon, among other things, trips to Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Italy; Costco runs; clothes; family dental bills; and Steelers tickets.
In 2016, a similar rendezvous allegedly occurred with yet another lobbyist with whom Hunter had professional and social ties. Prosecutors allege that following a political event they attended, “Hunter went back to I-18’s home, where they engaged in intimate personal activities unrelated to Hunter’s congressional campaign or duties as a member of Congress. At 7:08 a.m. the next morning, Hunter used $32 in campaign funds to Uber back to his office.
