It is election day for those of us in Canada. Be sure to get out there and vote. The Jays are 13-15, with three games left this month. They would need a sweep to finish the month above .500, but 2 of 3 would leave them just a game under.

I’d take that for the first month. But it doesn’t matter unless they start hitting, and I don’t think that’s happening. I hate that the Jays have so many off days near the start of the season; they would be more useful later on. We are going to need a fifth starter later this week. My vote is Jake Bloss. He’s had a couple of decent starts in a row, with nine shutout innings, nine hits, one walk, and twelve strikeouts. All things being perfect, it would likely be better to have him stay in Buffalo and continue to show he can pitch well and prove that the slow start is behind him. But we aren’t living in perfect times. The other possibility is Eric Lauer, who isn’t on the 40-man roster but has been okay in Buffalo—five starts, a 4.50 ERA, 24 innings, 24 hits, 6 walks and 21 strikeouts. The Jays have an open spot on the 40-man roster, after moving Ryan Burr to the IL. Jonatan Clase has been sent back to Buffalo. I wish he had played in both games yesterday. Unfortunately for him, we are deep in outfielders, especially with Varsho returning. I’m curious to see who goes down when Varsho is called up. I think Alan Roden and Will Wagner are on the bubble, but it could be Addison Barger. Yesterday’s Umpire Scorecards: Game one. As usual, the umpire gives the trailing team the advantage. It would be more interesting to look at his calls in that third inning and before that. Game two. This time, the mistakes were in the Yankees’ favour. Orelvis Martinez seems to be slowly turning things around. He didn’t have a great week, but it was a step up from his slow start. Speaking of having a good week, Arjun Nimmala is on a five-game hitting streak and is 7 for his last 22, with three home runs . He doesn’t turn 20 until October, and he’s making a case to move to Double-A. MLB Pipeline has his ETA as 2028. Maybe he could shave a year off of that? In former Jays news:
