“We experienced a slight decline in beverage alcohol sales this quarter,” Greg Hughes, president and CEO, said in a news release.Beverage alcohol sales decreased by 1.1 per cent but cannabis sales increased by 6.7 per cent, compared to the previous year. Sales of local beverage alcohol and cannabis increased by 5.7 per cent to $32.8 million, led by Nova Scotia cannabis sales, which grew 22.2 per cent to $9.5 million.“This quarter the average price of cannabis per gram was further reduced 2.1 per cent to $6.02, compared to last year, as we work to impact illicit sales in the province,” Hughes said.Retail customer transactions for beverage alcohol decreased by 3.7 per cent, and the average value of each transaction increased by 2.
Nova Scotia ready-to-drink beverage alcohol sales increased by 1.2 per cent to $8.8 million. Local cooler sales increased by 0.9 per cent to $7.1 million, and local cider sales increased by 2.3 per cent to $1.7 million.
