HALIFAX, N.S. — Jah’Mila, Halifax’s reggae queen, electrified the Junos crowd on Saturday night, but unfortunately didn’t walk away with a statuette.
Near the start of the show, Jah’Mila took to the stage to perform her song East Coast Family with several fellow Nova Scotians, including Owen O’Sound Lee and Mi’kmaw fiddler and singer Morgan Toney — who was also nominated for Traditional Roots Album of the Year . None of the Nova Scotian nominees walked away with Juno statuettes on Saturday. A full list of the winners is on“It means the world to me , it’s everything,” she told reporters after her performance.
Walking the red carpet was an experience in itself. She said for the first time, designers have reached out to her hoping she’ll wear their creations.
