And every once in a while, somebody will land on a word or phrase so perfectly situated in the grey area of acceptability as to generate full-scale international conversation about its use. One such word, as discovered by North Carolina’s Karly Sindy, is “FART.”Sindy, of Asheville, North Carolina, selected the custom phrase while at the DMV back in October, and was delighted when the motoring authority granted her wish and shipped her the plate.
The DMV told Sindy that if she wanted to keep the plate, she could write a letter explaining “what the plate means to [her].” So, Sindy took to reddit to generate some ideas, and was prompted to create the Friends of Asheville Recreational Trails club, which has already held a meet-up attended by 15 people.
