Fresh off some record-breaking swims at the Canada Summer Games, Kilbride's Chris Weeks of mpmswimming was identified by the country’s Olympic Committee as a hopeful in the pool for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris. By nikmercer SaltWire
Before any of this comes to fruition, though, Weeks knows he needs to put the work in.
He figures to even get in the conversation for an Olympic cut, he'll need to shave a minute-and-a-half off his time. Especially this year, where Weeks put in an historic run at the 2022 Canada Summer Games held earlier this month in the Niagara region, he's hopeful about his chances. His gold medal swim also earned 748 FINA points, a scoring system that compares a swimmer’s current time to the world record from the previous year. That was also a record.“I think, after all the years of training, my technique is starting to get down and learning how to swim fast,” he said.
