David Quirke, 20, and Lorraine Obed, 29, were among the accused arraigned in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court Monday morning. They are each charged with second-degree murder. Each pleaded not guilty and chose a trial by jury.ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Two people accused of unrelated murders in downtown St. John’s are headed to trial next spring, and both plan to apply for bail in the meantime.

Lorraine Obed, 29, and David Quirke, 20, were among the accused arraigned in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court Monday morning. They are each charged with second-degree murder. Each pleaded not guilty and chose a trial by jury. Obed appeared by video from the women’s correctional facility in Clarenville, where she is being held in connection with the death of 49-year-old Jimmy Corcoran on Carter’s Hill, Aug. 19, 2021.
