As the start of production nears for their new movie, the Safdie Brothers have reportedly cast Steve Harvey in an unknown role.
, named one of the top ten films of 2019 by the National Board of Review. For their work on Uncut Gems, the Safdie Brothers won Best Director, and Sandler won Best Male Lead at the 2020 Independent Spirit Awards.
This new project continues a recent run of projects from Sandler set in the world of sports. After starring as a sports gambling addict in Uncut Gems, Sandler starred as an NBA scout in 2022’s Hustle. The veteran actor received positive reviews for his performance, resulting in a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.
The Safdie Brothers have not made a film since Uncut Gems. However, the duo has been working on Showtime’s The Curse, an upcoming comedy television series starring Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone about a problematic HGTV show.
