Missing Nanaimo woman has 'significant medical issues,' RCMP says

Mounties in Nanaimo are calling on the public for help as they try to locate a missing woman who they say has “significant” medical issues. Kiara McKechnie, 37, left her home at around 9 p.m. Saturday and hasn’t been seen since, according to Nanaimo RCMP in a news release. “Investigators were told by family members that McKechnie has significant medical issues, and as a result, they are extremely worried for her safety and well-being,” states the release from Sunday.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.RCMP say McKechnie, who doesn’t carry a cell phone or drive, is “overall cheerful but may appear as distressed.” She stands at 5’6″, weighs 200 lbs.
Anyone who sees McKechnie is asked to call 911, and those with information about her whereabouts should reach out to Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
