Mercedes-Benz has entered into a commercial agreement with robotics company Apptronik to pilot the use of humanoid robots in manufacturing. The pilot program will explore how highly advanced robotics, like Apptronik's Apollo, can automate low skill, physically challenging, manual labor tasks. The use of humanoid robots would enable vehicle manufacturers to automate manufacturing tasks without facility redesign.

This follows a similar pilot announced by BMW earlier this year.
