It’s the second day in a row that mechanical problems on the Coastal Celebration caused travel interruptions
Mechanical problems in the engines of the Coastal Celebration caused multiple sailing delays and cancellations on the weekend.
Sidhu said the issue was unrelated to another mechanical problem on a separate engine on the Coastal Celebration that caused a near hour-long delay on a Saturday sailing.Coastal Celebration’s 2 p.m. sailing was listed as being delayed for two hours on the B.C. Ferries website. Last year, the Coastal Celebration faced continuing problems with its propulsion system and had its propeller blade seals replaced at a dry dock in North Vancouver.
Meanwhile, in the North Island, 11 B.C. Ferries sailings between the communities of Port McNeill, Sointula and Alert Bay were cancelled Sunday due to unanticipated crew absences, starting with the 6:40 a.m. sailing departing from Alert Bay.
