In a special weather statement issued Monday afternoon, the weather agency says between 20 and 40 centimetres of snowfall is possible. The statement covers most of southern and eastern Ontario. Environment Canada said it's too early to predict which regions will be hardest hit because the storm's path remains uncertain.Communities on Lake Ontario including Kingston and Belleville could see more than 15 centimetres of snow, and also face a risk of freezing rain.
The storm is expected to begin Wednesday evening and end Thursday, during which time "hazardous travel conditions" are likely. Motorists are advised to use extra caution and avoid non-essential travel during the storm.
