Jennifer Abel, from Laval, Que., and Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu, from Saint-Constant, Que., overcame a slow start on their first two dives to finish with a total score of 300.78. Abel won bronze in the same event with Emilie Heymans at the 2012 London Games and it was the Olympic debut for Citrini-Beaulieu.Mac Neil earned Canada's first gold medal of the Games finishing with a time of 55.59 seconds to make her second trip to the podium in as many days.
