The car came off the road onto the railway in the Maidenhead area, Great Western Railway (GWR) says.

A car crashed on to a railway line halting services between London Paddington and Reading.

The car was found on the railway in the Maidenhead area shortly after 05:00 GMT. It meant all lines between Reading and London Paddington had to be shut. Great Western Railway said following checks by Network Rail lines had reopened and services had resumed.BTP added: "Officers remain on scene with colleagues from Thames Valley Police to search the area and recover the vehicle from the tracks."

GWR said travellers could expect delays through the morning as "trains and train crew are displaced".Train services running to and from these stations are returning to normal but some services have been cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 10:00 15/02.
