Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Dustin Crum is a rocket scientist, with a degree in Aeronautical Systems of Engineering Technology.
“It’s huge for me, I’m definitely excited,” Crum said. “I’m a competitor. When you get a chance to play, it’s why we play this game, it’s why we do the work we do. Last year, I didn’t really get to do much, I didn’t get many reps. So, this camp is really my first go at it. It’s been a lot of fun to compete again.”
By the time he got to Kent State, though, the coach who had recruited him had been fired. And the new coach at first didn’t see Crum as “his guy.” “My mobility is definitely a benefit,” he said. “I’m accurate with the ball, which is very important where one miscue can stall a drive. I have a strong enough arm to touch everywhere on the field that’s necessary. Being able to anticipate and continuing to learn the game as student is what sets guys apart.”
