first reported“We have had lengthy discussions with Solomon over the past few months and we believe at this time that allowing him to become a free agent is the best course of action for both parties,” Lions general manager Ed Hervey said in aTSN's Farhan Lalji previously reported that the Lions had been actively shopping Elimimian the past few months but found no takers. The Lions also discussed retirement as an option but Elimimian wasn't interested.

Elimimian has spent his entire CFL career with the Lions, playing nine seasons and winning two Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards , and the 2014 Most Outstanding Player Award. He played in only four games last season after a wrist injury, finishing with 26 tackles.
