“Trump doubles down on 25% tariffs for Canada and Mexico, ordering sweeping review of trade policies”
We should find new allies and trading partners and strengthen our domestic economy by lowering corporate taxes and barriers, including interprovincial trade barriers. Finally we should strengthen our borders and our military so future adversaries will think twice. Isn’t the sole purpose of CEOs to maximize the value of their businesses? Are they not highly paid because they are visionaries who ensure business longevity? Why are ordinary Canadians left to pay the price when our government and business leaders fail?
I did that in my own small way, by formally breaking off relationships with a few U.S.-based firms. I had accounts with them on the day in 2018 when Donald Trump announced heavy tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum.
