This story shows that music education is not just about music. Music lessons help ease students’ anxieties, boost confidence and instill discipline, all of which can lead to better academic performance. Drug use and incarceration will increase. Productivity will decrease; safety will suffer. It won’t happen overnight but if we don’t act, it will happen. I won’t be around but I still care. Do our representatives?Elizabeth C. The legislative process is complicated and grueling at times. Not all local officials have the expertise, time or money to properly keep up on the progress of a legislative session and the over 10,000 bills usually filed. It was hard enough for those of us in the Legislature to do so.Much of this movement to limit local control by banning professional lobbying comes from moneyed political contributors who do not want a level playing field.
