We hear a great deal lately about our broken medical services but I wish to draw your attention to a program provided by Health P.E.I. that is definitely not broken.
Throughout the process, we felt very well supported with check-ins, explanations and supplies, always with calm, caring and competent delivery. Each of the women who provided care in any capacity was lovely, taking time to chat, never giving the impression that this was a chore to be hurried through, always making it seem like a social visit and my mother truly enjoyed getting to know these new young friends helping to make her life more pleasant.
I wish to thank the wonderful women who cared for my mother in her last year and the program that made it possible. The service was extraordinary, not only for its quality of care, timeliness, comprehensiveness, and professionalism, but perhaps most of all for the kindness — the warmth and compassion that underlined every visit. I highly recommend this service for anyone who wishes to keep a loved one at home as their health declines.
A second example is on the P.E.I. Education website and refers to the role of the department being “to develop and deliver high quality programs and curriculum in English and French to Island children.” This is a major understatement of the department’s role; my understanding, and my interpretation of public understanding, is that the department’s role is a broad one, namely to encourage, support and regulate education for all Islanders.
