Letowski, currently an assistant coach with the Montreal Canadiens, spent three seasons with the Sting, scoring 93 goals and 247 points in in 187 games, adding 18 goals and 36 points in 26 playoff games.

The Thunder Bay native went on to play nine seasons in the National Hockey League with Phoenix, Vancouver, Columbus and Carolina, before finishing his carer with two seasons in Russia. He then jumped behind the bench in Sarnia for five seasons, including two as head coach before joining the Windsor Spitfires coaching staff.

"I just want to thank the Sarnia Sting organization for this honour. It means so much to me," the 45-year-old Letowski said in a recorded message played during last Friday's ceremony, as the inaugural hall of fame class was inducted prior to Friday's 9-6 win over Windsor. Also inducted were former player John Sim and Robert Ciccarelli, who, along with brothers Larry and Dino, brought the Sting to Sarnia.

Drafted in the eighth round in 1994, the Sting's first draft, Letowski was named the team's rookie of the year in 1994-95 and in 1997 became the first member of the organization to be selected to play for Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championship, winning gold.
