King and Chubby Checker. Famed comedian Redd Foxx was even known to tend the bar at the club while workshopping his material.
According to a San Antonio Express story, the couple were arrested for"possession of marijuana, heroin and narcotics paraphernalia."The singer, born Jamesetta Hawkins, was found with one gram of heroin and a small amount of marijuana, according to the Houston Chronicle. Police were granted a search warrant to search James' room.
James was then arrested in New York and the federal flight charge was dropped after she appeared before a U.S. magistrate.
