“I think it can't be understated how major this is for the trans community and really for generations to come,” she told “Nightline.”“We can’t really have a real conversation on pride without talking about the Stonewall riots, which was a queer militant uprising against police brutality, particularly the New York Police Department,” Willis said. “So when we think about the ways in which white supremacy plagues all black people, it is especially plaguing black trans folks as well.
