Donkin Mine, the only operational underground mine in Nova Scotia and the only sub-sea level operation in the world, was given a stop work order in July following a roof fall in the No. 2 tunnel. " has given no indication of when it will be released, which prompted today’s layoff decision," the release states."The timing for the release of the SWO is unknown as it depends on DOL’s ability to timely assess the situation."
