Ryan Elder described to police the force he used to end his mother Raymonde Elder's life, but is pleading not guilty.
Despite making voluntary statements to police describing the force he used to end his mother Raymonde Elder’s life, 29-year-old Ryan Elder is pleading not guilty to her second-degree murder.
On day one of his judge-alone trial, Crown lawyers revealed Raymonde died due to a combination of blunt force trauma, strangulation, and a number of stabs to the back. Photographs shown in court show the house’s back door frame ripped off, two bloody teeth in the corner of the living room, then, to the sobs of loved ones in the gallery, Raymonde’s dead body.Raymonde’s brother Alex McEwen previously told CHEK News that his nephew struggled with mental health, saying the family called the police many times for help as Ryan’s mental health deteriorated.
The forensic RCMP officer who processed Ryan in cells testified he had abrasions on his hand and wrist and upper and lower lip.
