Maj. Sharon MacLeod of the Kentville Salvation Army says they are counting on community and volunteer support as they head into the final days of the 2022 Christmas Kettle Campaign. KIRK STARRATTKENTVILLE, N.S. — The Kentville Salvation Army is hoping for more donations and more volunteers as its 2022 Christmas Kettle Campaign winds down.

“The funds that we raise not only helps at Christmas time but helps families throughout the year,” MacLeod said.At Christmas, the Salvation Army provides food and toy hampers to families in need. The church is also involved in community outreach efforts at other times, providing emergency financial assistance and sending kids to summer camp, for example.

MacLeod said that if people are available to volunteer between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., even for a couple of hours, it would be a great help. They are asked to call Gary Patterson at 902-680-5093, or to leave a message at the Kentville Salvation Army Church at 902-678-2039. The campaign concludes at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 24.

This year’s kettle locations include Canadian Tire, the County Fair Mall, Sobeys, Atlantic Superstore, Walmart, and Giant Tiger in New Minas; Foodland and the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation in Kentville; the NSLC, Sobeys and the Atlantic Superstore in Windsor; the NSLC in Wolfville and the NSLC in Berwick.
