“It’s difficult, because there are topics you can sue on, and topics that you can’t. So it was a win in the sense there are issues people are gonna be more careful about. But for example, who sues on behalf of climate change misinformation?”“I haven't ever been a part of the business, and so I hesitate to—”“I’m not sure about the timing of everything. It seems like there were times previously where he went well over the line.
“I think if I answered the question,” she replied with a laugh, “it would negate the possibility of any of that.” Kathryn was a good sport about engaging with these less than comfortable queries, so I wanted to let her get the last word on the stuff she actually wanted to talk about. Does she feel more hopeful or more pessimistic about the future?
“Our foundation is called Quadrivium. That means crossroads,” she said. “I think we’re at a crossroads, and we are going to make choices about it. I am an optimist in the sense that I can see futures that are better than the present we’re living in now. I can see a way of doing democracy where people feel involved and engaged, and where they could see the results of their voting to produce legislation that actually changes their lives.
