Riley Williams, 23, of Lower Paxton, bragged after the Jan. 6 riots that she had engineered “such a good tactic” to breach police lines, prosecutors wrote in new court filings.
Prosecutors say they want to introduce this evidence because it is “intrinsic” to proving the crimes for which she has been charged, not to smear Williams. Evidence of prior bad acts usually cannot be introduced to show a defendant’s propensity to commit similar crimes.
The motion was among seven filed since Friday that must be decided by the judge regarding what kind of evidence can be introduced at Williams’ eventual trial. Williams attorneys previously had asked the judge to compel the Department of Justice to provide them access to inspect Pelosi’s office to be able to defend their client. On Monday, they withdrew the motion because prosecutors arranged for them to visit and view the office suite prior to trial.
Instead of complying, Williams pushed and rallied other rioters to breach police lines yelling, things like: “Keep pushing! Push, push, push,” and “Keeping going. Go! Go!” and calling an officer a “traitor.”
