Lunacy, some might have said, just not for a man who had sailed solo almost around the world, crossed the Pacific five times on his own and skied challenging slopes in the Rockies and other mountain ranges. By that, as one media report declared, he meant “taking on the Health Department or anyone else in government when he saw an injustice.”
Bryenton also saw, close up, the determination of a man who had to take 30 pills a day for his pulmonary fibrosis and diabetes just to function. When Dennis returned to Charlottetown for the book launch in October, she noticed that his cough had worsened. He was, though, upbeat as ever, handing out pulmonary fibrosis armbands to complete strangers in restaurants, charming school kids during classroom visits.
