Jonathan Batty released a report on his investigation into a complaint that centred on Tory’s connections to the Rogers corporation and a vote about Toronto’s pandemic street closure program.
Batty said in a press release that the mayor’s statements about the issue and his ties to the telecom giant “reasonably raised a question as to whether he had a conflict of interest.”
Speaking at an unrelated press conference moments before the report was made public, Tory said his office had been briefed on the commissioner’s findings Tuesday morning and he was pleased with its conclusions. Civic activist Adam Chaleff filed the complaint in July. He asked Batty to investigate whether Tory’s position on the Rogers family trust meant the mayor was in a conflict when he publicly discussed and voted on the ActiveTO road closure program on June 15.Toronto Blue Jays
