After serving eight years on Victoria council, Jeremy Loveday has announced he will not be seeking re-election.
are each seeking the mayor’s chair, and Ben Isitt and Sarah Potts have not yet declared their intentions.
“I have learned so much through this public service, and I’ve enjoyed working alongside so many residents who want to make our city even better,” Loveday said in his post. In his post, Loveday highlights his work on the Capital Regional Housing Corporation and CRD Arts Commission as work he is proud of in his time on the Captial Regional District board.
On council, he mentions his work in supporting the creation of the cycling network, implementing fare free transit for youth, expanding restaurant patios, pedestrianized public spaces, and the Get Growing Victoria seedling and garden material distribution program.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.“Thank you to the residents of Victoria for putting your trust in me,” Loveday says in his post.
“I will be taking some time to reflect and develop my next chapter. In the immediate term, I will be completing my MBA in October and finalizing the manuscript for my first full-length poetry book scheduled for publication in 2023.”
