YARMOUTH, NS – As the water sprayed, splashed and squirted, it was hard to tell who was more excited – the kids enjoying the water features, or the volunteer committee that has worked for a year to see the Yarmouth Splash Park become a reality.
There were lots of smiles on Aug. 27 as the Yarmouth Splash Park Committee, and members of their families, were at the Yarmouth Mariners site of the park, testing out the water features and working on the landscaping surrounding the concrete pad. TINA COMEAU PHOTODuring the weekend prior to the soft opening, on Aug. 27, the volunteer committee was still hard at work getting the splash park ready. Part of the public opening leadup, Gallagher said, included some kid test runs of the water features.
The goal of the pathway and landscaping being, of course, to ensure rocks and dirt don’t end up on the surface of the splash pad. “I grew up in a family where volunteering is important. My mom was pretty much my leader in Beavers and 4-H,” he said. “Volunteering, that’s what it takes to have a successful community.”
