“It was awesome,” Cornwall said. “The rebound save that Delbs made was pretty impeccable. But then how quickly he was able to corral the ball and send it down the floor was pretty nice. We can really challenge teams by running in transition and force them to play more honestly than they would like to. And it’s nice to be a part of that.”

“I’ve always had a defence-first mentality. I get opportunities because I’m still pretty quick — not as fast as I used to be, but still pretty quick. So defence-first, and then if the opportunity comes, I’ll try and net the ball the best I can.”This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.Jeff Cornwall is pictured with the Saskatoon Rush during a game in March 2022.

But Board and the Roughnecks stepped in before the Rush could to land him with a deal that sent forward Marshal King and the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NLL Draft to the Desert Dogs. “It’s been awesome,” agreed Cornwall. “It’s fun playing for a different group for once. I was with the Rush organization for quite some time, so I knew a lot of the Roughnecks players, and now I get to be teammates with those guys who were rivals for quite some time. It’s pretty cool to be on the other side of things.Article content
