Ottawa Redblacks receiver Jaelon Acklin says if the Hamilton Ticats want to play smash\u002Dmouth football, the Redblacks need to respond.
Exactly a year after suffering a season-ending leg fracture in Ottawa’s fourth game of the season against Saskatchewan, Jeremiah Masoli will return as the Redblacks’ starting quarterback. Coming off their first win of the season over Edmonton, the Redblacks will get a boost from the return of the former East Division’s Most Outstanding Player.
“It is an East opponent, you have to take those a bit different,” said Acklin. “But it’s another football game for us. We’re pros. We go into every game like it’s do or die and our jobs are on the line.” “The best I can do is try to bring a bit of what I know into the locker room,” said Desjarlais. “A big part of it is being together and trusting each other. That comes with time. We’re starting to come together, especially after getting the first win. That was huge for morale. Everybody gets a taste of what winning tastes like. And that’s a taste you want to get addicted to.Article content
“Coming from an offensive lineman, it may be selfish, but we want to run the ball as much as we can,” said Desjarlais. “We’re always asking for run plays. In our last game plan, we really pushed to see if we could get that run game going.”
