“The primary driver for this influx is likely the return of students that chose alternative schooling approaches during the pandemic back to the CBE. Students that left in large numbers at the start of the 2020-21 school year resulted in the single largest enrolment drop experienced by the CBE.” At the same time, the Calgary Catholic School District saw 2,154 new students this fall, bringing total enrolment to 58,881. The spike is well up from the previous year’s addition of only 351 students, the loss of 1,578 students in 2020 and the slight increase of only 1,156 in 2019.
