But the rain isn't totally over. The National Weather Service in League City predicted that some showers could continue through Saturday morning, though the threat of flooding rains has passed.
The forecast will be clear for the weekend before things get interesting again at the beginning of next week.Showers will gradually decrease overnight. Low temperatures will be in the 50s. Thunderstorms are possible near the coast. The rain will finally end, with the sun possibly making an appearance through the clouds in the afternoon. Rain chances on the coast will diminish as the day goes on. Highs will be in the low 70s.
More concerning, the weather service is monitoring a potential system in the northwest Gulf of Mexico. Some forecasters have already started warning that the system could turn into a subtropical storm and bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of the Gulf Coast.
