Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum made history after he became the franchise's youngest-ever player to reach 10,000 points.
On Wednesday, Hodges was on a high note – a high Tide moment to be precise.
Hodges is the second player from Dothan in four years to ink with the Crimson Tide. Jaala Torrence, who played at Northview before graduating in the first class of the new Dothan High, signed with the Tide in 2020. Hodges said the Crimson Tide coaching staff, led by head coach Patrick Murphy, was one of the key factors in her signing with Alabama.
Hodges takes an impressive resume to Tuscaloosa – even with a senior season to add on more achievements. The highlight is State Tournament MVP award in helping Houston Academy to a state title during her sophomore season in 2022. She was named first-team all-state and Class 3A State Pitcher of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association and to the Dothan Eagle Super 12 team as well that season.
“She is an absolute beast as a competitor,” said Houston Academy head coach Sharon Cherry, summing up both Hodges’ dogged determination to return as well as her intense demeanor on the field.
