New HIV diagnoses in Manitoba have surged 130 percent in two years, with 388 cases reported in 2023 and over 300 cases in 2024 so far. The Manitoba HIV Program data reveals that the diagnosis rate in Manitoba is about five times higher than the national average. Dr. Templeton noted a significant difference in demographics affected by HIV in Manitoba , with heterosexual individuals and those who inject methamphetamine facing a higher risk compared to the national trend.
