A Metrolinx project report on the Hazel McCallion Line is outlining that major portions of the new elevated guideway are now complete and bridge deck work is underway. The elevated section of the line stretching over Highway 403 will connect the future City Centre stop at Rathburn Road and the Robert Speak stop at Hurontario Street.
Crews installed the final elevated guideway girders last fall, serving as a “backbone” that will support the weight of trains crossing over the highway on the future LRT line. \Now that the structure’s foundation is in place, crews will focus on building the bridge deck — the flat surface where the future LRT tracks will be installed. “A specialized concrete screed machine is used to ensure concrete is poured with precision and efficiency,” reads a release. \The Hazel McCallion Line is being built in Peel Region. It will run 18 kilometres along Hurontario Street from the Port Credit GO Station to Steeles Avenue in Brampton, making 19 stops along the way.
