SaltWire's Atlantic regional weather forecast for October 24, 2023 | SaltWireThe 21-year-old defenceman from Halifax backed into a promotion with the Candiens a few days ago after an injury to Kaiden Guhle opened up a spot in the lineup. But despite the bad luck for his teammate, the circumstances don't change that Barron wants to make the most of the opportunity.

Barron started the season as Montreal's seventh defenceman so he didn't dress for the first three games. But things can change quickly in hockey and Guhle is now out day to day so Barron just made sure to keep himself prepared while he waited for his opening. During his time with the big club in 2022-23, Barron posted a solid 15 points in 39 games. He's still a young player so starting this year on the NHL roster, whether he plays every night or not, is a promising sign of progress.
