MONTAGUE, P.E.I. — Montague Regional High School is now open after going into lockdown around 12:45 p.m. on June 3 following a report of a gun seen on the school grounds.

The RCMP said police officers attended the school and brought the incident under control. There was no threat to anyone in the area, and no one was injured at the school, the RCMP said.“Police were there immediately and were able to identify an individual in connection to this and a replica pistol, not an actual firearm, was recovered out of this incident,” said Cpl. Gavin Moore, P.E.I. RCMP media relations officer.

The lockdown ended around 1:20 p.m. and the police asked the public to stay away from the school “not to add to any more chaos of things that have gone on there. And there is a significant police presence at the school,” Moore said. Moore said he was unable to provide details on the person connected to the replica firearm as the investigation was ongoing. It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
