The Vancouver Giants took it to the Seattle Thunderbirds, roaring out to a 4-0 lead in the second and cruising to a Game 1 win
The playoff opening night Vancouver Giants looked a lot like the Giants we’ve seen most of this regular season.
Vancouver’s 48-15-3-2 regular season this year was their second-best winning percentage in the franchise’s 18 seasons, behind the 57-10-2-3 campaign in 2008-09. The league cut four regular-season games from each team’s schedule this year, leaving squads with 68 apiece. Tendeck left Vancouver’s practice on Wednesday after taking a shot in the midsection area. He did return to the ice for Thursday’s practice.
Vancouver also talked this week about wanting to get traffic in front of Seattle netminder Roddy Ross, and Svejkovsky’s marker and Dylan Plouffe’s point shot that made it 4-0 at 16:57 of the second period were through screens.Andrej Kukuca broke Miner’s shutout bid at 19:57 of the second period.
