Born in Casselman Ontario in 1922, Germaine married Albert Desjardins in 1940 and they moved to Garson. Germaine and Albert were very proud of their only child Gerty, when she represented Canada at the World Figure Skating Competitions in 1962 and 1963. Gerty met her future husband George Verbiwski when she joined Ice Capades.

The Verbiwskis married and settled in Las Vegas in 1969. Germaine and Albert travelled to many cities in Canada and the USA to watch Gerty perform taking them as far Hong Kong. After Albert died in 1995, Germaine spent 23 winters with Gerty and George in Las Vegas. Her last winter in Vegas was in 2019 at 97 years old. Germaine was well known for her great sense of humor and her love of dressing up in costumes as often as she could. She left this world on Halloween, her favorite holiday.

Special thanks to her niece and nephew Jeannine and Remi Foisy who took excellent care of Germaine for many years and a big thank you to the staff at Elizabeth Center in Val Caron. Germaine was 4th oldest of 11 siblings and they all predeceased her. She leaves her daughter Gerty, her sister- in-law Denise Savage, several nieces & nephews and many wonderful friends. There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held in the spring.
