It’s believed the Malhotra family was contacted by Farmboy executive Jeff York to be part of the local group he’s put together. York is hoping his investors can be a minority partner in the project with whoever ends up purchasing the club. The Kimel family had reached out to Melnyk, who passed away after a lengthy illness in March, to try to become partners in the LeBreton deal last December. Melnyk was advised by the league to make the bid himself.
