With my annual apologies to Clement Clarke Moore:
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, and Tkachuk laughed when he saw him, in spite of himself.Santa spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, to hand out some hockey gear to some of the Senators good sports:
Coach D.J. Smith: First, and foremost, Smith is a people person and his players know exactly what he expects of them daily. Let’s hope the Senators can find a way to win more consistently in the final 49 games once the Christmas break wraps up Tuesday. Smith always says the Senators “need to check their way out of this” and if they do that the club will see success. A lot of the talent is in place but you need all hands-on deck to right the ship.
Josh Norris: The best gift Santa could deliver is good health in 2023. The 23-year-old Norris is determined to get back from the shoulder injury he suffered in October and help make an impact down the stretch. Not many have a better shot than Norris when he’s set up in the right circle on the power play and prepared to take a blast that usually finds the back of the net.
Derick Brassard: The Gatineau native sits 25 games from 1,000 in his career and after taking a second twirl with the Senators this season it would be nice to see him accomplish that feat here. No matter what happens with the ownership of this team, the 35-year-old Brassard would be the perfect fit to play a front office role when he’s done playing. He loves the game.
