A week after being introduced as new owner of the Ottawa Senators, Michael Andlauer continued to put his stamp on the club\u0027s front office.
After returning Cyril Leeder to his role as president and chief executive officer, Andlauer confirmed Friday that Steve Staios will take on a newly created role as the Senators president of hockey operations.Staois will oversee the club’s hockey department and will work with general manager Pierre Dorion on trying to ensure this club makes the right decisions to return to the playoffs for the first time in seven years.
“In hockey, you can never accumulate too much talent. Having Steve and Pierre leading our hockey department gives us a formidable team.” The duo enjoyed a lot of success together and are close friends. Hamilton never missed the playoffs during Staois’ run at the helm and he was also a partner of Andlauer’s in the ownership group of the Bulldogs, which have moved to Brantford this season.
Andlauer noted last week that he was part of the Montreal Canadiens search committee when the club fired general manager Marc Bergevin. The organization opted to go with Jeff Gorton as the president of hockey operations and then hired Kent Hughes as the GM.
