The 1000 Islands Poker Run was back in Brockville Saturday, with souped\u002Dup vessels drawing many onlookers.

That’s how Nicolas Lebrun, who has been volunteering at the 1000 Islands Poker Run in Brockville for four years, described his attraction to the annual event, which powered back to Blockhouse Island over the lunch hour on Saturday.

Participants got their first card at the starting-point in Kingston Saturday morning, and their second at Ivy Lea, before getting their third at the lunch stop in Brockville. They completed their hand with a stop in Gananoque and the finish in Kingston. As the boats were docked along the harbour at the west end of Blockhouse Island, spectators gathered on the other side of the rope to admire the engines and wait for the vessels’ departure.

“Especially this one up here; it’s always fun to look at,” added LaPierre, referring to the Poker Run’s star attraction, My Way.
