Shumberger said crews were first called around 6:45 p.m. to Motel 6, 381 Cumberland Parkway, Upper Allen Township and quickly he had to upgrade the fire to a third alarm, bringing in dozens of crews from around the region to help. “We took our animals, put them in the car and got out,” Gonzalez said. Grabbing the cat and dog, Gonzalez said they had no idea where they would be staying the night but knew they couldn’t stay there. “We weren’t worried about nothing else, as long as we were safe.”
The firefight required three hydrants, Shumberger, and frigid temperatures complicated their operations from multiple angles.
