MEMBERTOU, N.S. — The rumour mill has been in full effect since construction resumed at Membertou's Seventh Exchange retail district.
"Ultimately, we're looking at 7th Exchange as being an inclusive and convenient retail district for the region. It's going to service the needs and wants of the Membertou community, but of course, we're welcoming the broader community to use this as sort of a one-stop shop," MacNeil said. The new McDonald's location and the service station are scheduled to open in June 2024. MacNeil says the gas bar will be a Petro Canada location but the attached convenience store will be a first for Nova Scotia.
"It's going to be a commercial building, but what's unique about this building is that we're doing a mass timber build," MacNeil said."Actually, it's the first in the region of this type of building. We're working with Dora Construction on that. It will be mainly a mix of service and corporate tenants. The building has 95 per cent of the space already committed and the plan is to open that building in August of 2025.
