The Report Card is the product of more than two years of research and engagement. It brings together a wealth of information produced by different food system actors in Durham to provide a one-stop overview of our local food system assets and issues.

“We’ve seen more people experiencing food insecurity,” explained Martin. “And Feed the Need in Durham definitely has been telling us the need has gone up and it’s been difficult to find the resources to meet it.” · The number of farms in Durham has declined 17.5% since 2011, with smaller decreases among larger farms. The average size of farms overall has risen .This report card is meant to prioritize action areas. It envisions subsequent versions in future years as tracking progress related to food justice and sustainability in the region.
